In her latest body of work Anne Doran will be presenting casts of her extensive fossil collection from the Late Carboniferous era in conjunction with water-colors from a found porn magazine. Doran assumes the role of excavator, both of dead organic material and the detritus of a later, human existence. It is the passage of an unimaginable length of time and our insignificant place within that line that Doran turns us towards. Through the conflation of these two seemingly unrelated subjects, Doran suggests a metaphor for our fragile and transitory position on an ancient planet.
