Suzanne Ciani is a groundbreaking composer and synthesizer pioneer—dubbed “the godmother of electronic music” —who has spent decades pushing the limits of analog and digital synthesis while crafting a sonic universe entirely her own. Her soundscapes weave together electronic patterns and textures with a rare sensitivity to both the natural world and the broader landscape of sound.

Ciani will perform a live electronic improvisation alongside Doug Aitken’s Lightscape, guided by her legendary Buchla synthesizer. Designed in the late 1960s, the Buchla conjures extraordinary washes, shifting soundscapes, and delicate organic tones—an instrument that seems to exist in its own dimension, and one that few artists have mastered as completely as Ciani. The performance offers a rare opportunity to witness one of the most important electronic musicians alive inhabit and transform the universe of Lightscape.
