For the 2018 Art Show, 303 Gallery presents a solo exhibition of works by Mary Heilmann, whose highly inventive approach to abstraction has made her one of the foremost painters of her generation. Recent paintings, glazed ceramics and an arrangement of furniture made by the artist appear alongside several examples in these mediums from previous decades. By juxtaposing new works with historic ones, the exhibition becomes a storyboard, charting the evolution of her practice while allowing visitors to draw parallels across time periods. Brightly colored chairs transform the booth into a social space akin to a living room or the artist’s studio, inviting viewers to relax and spend time in Heilmann’s world.
