303 Gallery is pleased to present a new sound installation, glass sculpture and photographic work by Kristin Oppenheim.

In the sound installation entitled The Eyes I Remember, the viewer traverses the gallery space through a series of labyrinthine passageways resonating with the artist’s voice. A spoken narrative (adapted from The Bridge, a science fiction novel by Iain Banks) creates a lyrical, almost musical composition. Layers of voice build and shift into vortical movements, associating images that endlessly form and evanesce as word and voice continue to collide.

Also on view are three large full-color photographs titled After Dark My Sweet. Taken from the movie of the same name, Oppenheim plays on the implied drama suggested by its title. Stark images of long arms and gesturing hands are suspended upside-down.

In the back gallery, Oppenheim shows a new sculpture series. Seven life-size tiaras made from hand-blown glass are placed on pedestals at eye-level. The majestic rabbit-like ears embody the tiaras, declaring their presence to be at once both enchanting and absurd.

Sound work co-arranged and engineered by Thomas Carden. Glass works by Jonathan Christie.
